The majority of my clients are just starting out in their careers or are taking their first steps in putting their brand online, and they have many questions. So I thought I’d take some time to share some of the advice I give to them, to you.
This leads into the first question in our series, and one of the questions I get most often.
How Best to Reach My Clients?
The first step to identifying how best to reach your clients is to first make sure you know who your clients are.
When starting your business, or taking your branding online it’s important to focus on who you want to see your brand. Once you know the who, you can focus on how best to reach them.
When offering a product or service think who uses this service/product most often? Women in their 20’s? Men with dogs? Plumbers? Zoo Keepers? No matter who it is, it’s important to know who they are.
Once you know who they are, next think about how best to reach them. What are the platforms most people in this group use to take in media. Instagram might be the best way reach women in their 20’s, and men with dogs, but is it the best way to reach zoo keepers? Perhaps when reaching zoo keepers perhaps it would be best to try post card mailers?
The most important thing to remember use the medium that best suits your clients to reach them.
Once you know who they are, and what avenues are best to reach your target audience you should begin to think about how to structure your message for this audience in platform.
The best advice I can give is to think about your message, which could be “We provide quality dog bowls using BPA free plastic, featuring designs by local artists.” and then think about how to tailor that message to the platform and audience.
If you’re selling quality dog bowls to men with dogs, using Instagram, think about what images would speak to this demographic.
